Sustainable Furnishings Council

There’s a resource online for people who want to decorate their houses but don’t want to feel like a-holes for doing it. The Sustainable Furnishings Council web site provides information on all sorts of sustainable producing practices–from tree farming to air quality certification of adhesive products.

The SFC is a non-profit balanced coalition of industry players committed to promoting sustainable practices within the home furnishings industry and raising awareness among consumers and buyers. We believe that these practices are critical for maintaining a healthy balance between environmental conservation, social equity, and economic development.

It’s not about MITUSA, and who knows how much of it is a marketing ploy. But it could be a helpful resource for those who want to learn more about how best to buy the most responsibly produced products for one’s home.
