Cymbal Fest

In Adventures on June 4, 2009 at 12:36 am

Friend and fellow photographer Kevin, a drumming enthusiast, recently notified me that on Sunday the Drum Headquarters in St. Louis will host the drummer from the Black Crowes and Craigie Zildjian of Zildjian cymbals  for “a cymbal fest with sales and such, door prizes, etc.” Noon to 5 PM.

Cool. But there’s something even cooler about it. According to Wikipedia:

The Avedis Zildjian Company is a cymbal manufacturer founded in Istanbul, Turkey by an Armenian named Avedis Zildjian during the Ottoman Empire. Currently located in the United States, it is the world’s largest manufacturer of cymbals. At nearly 400 years old, Zildjian is the oldest family-run business in America and one of the 300 oldest companies in the world. They also sell drum-related accessories, such as drum sticks.

So don’t let the name fool you. Zildjian is All-American. Fitting, since most companies with “American” in the name and stars-n-stripes logos seem to make all their junk overseas.
